IRON HORSE PRODUCTIONS
3D Modelling is only a passion for steam...
HIstory:

I started my career on the South African Railways in 1988, modelling was never my hobby or a career but my passion for trains lead me to built the Theunissen Winburg line, the route I grew up and later worked the line on the Railways. I missed it so much that I just had to try and model it, this however lead to the expansion of building American routes because I just love American Steam locomotives. I am alone in Iron Horse Productions and found it rewarding to build what is lost forever, it is almost like creating the past that we never can get back again. I had to buy quite a lot of assets from CG Trader to accomplish this but for me it was well worth it.

Below is a short history of my life on the Railways, still involved in Steam in South Africa.

  • Walking the rails started at a
Early age of 9 years old where I
I grew up in a small town
    Theunissen. A Class 19D
    Traversed the branch line to
    Winburg. The romans of the
    Railway crawled into my hart
And I spend everyday of my life
On the footplate of the class 19D.
Years went by and I fanally
Qualified as a fireman on the
    South African Railway & Harbours
    In Bloemfontein.
Later years I was transfered to
Virginia where we worked on steam
Until the last years of steam in
    Kroonstad under Louw Bester.
    Steam locomotives sadly ended and
I was transfered to Diesel traction
And wrote my driver exams in my
  • Own time.
In 1992 I could not resist an opportunity
To work on SAR Class 15CA’s, 19D and
The class 24 in the industrial mining sites
Of Welkom in the Free State. This however
Also ended and I was fortunate to transfer
To ST Helena who used the Class 16CR
Locomotives. I worked on the Class 16 CR
Locomotives for almost 11 years and
Operations ceased again. I was transferred
To Diesel traction and worked on them
    Until the end of 2004.
I left St Helena and worked at Sandstone
Heritage Trust for many years to work on
Steam locomotives. During this time I
Left Sandstone Estates and worked for
Sheltam for almost 2 years, working on
    The Class 31, 32 200, 34 and C 30
    Locomotives. I returned to Sandstone
Estates until January 2025 and am
Currently involved in the New Cape
Central Railway to work on the standard
    Gauge locomotives again.
    Sandstone Estates have many 3’6”
    locomotives but
Only operate narrow gauge and I felt the
Need to work on the larger locomotives
Again through the mercy of God
